For a successful adoption experience, please remember to bring your identification, proof of   residence (ID with address, mail with current address, etc.) and knowledge and consent of your landlord (if applicable).

We will insist upon doing a pre-adoption home site visit before any adoption is finalized. Therefore, all adoptions should be local as we deliver your new dog to your home. If there will be extraordinary transport requirements, please be prepared to pay the foster caregiver a reasonable fee for this service.

If you are interested in adopting any animal from our network, the first step is to submit an adoption application. You can download an application from the links at the bottom of this page, attach the completed application to an email, and send it to the Humane Society of Florida at

humanefla@gmail.com.

Once the application is received, the approval process will take approximately 1-3 business days and you will be contacted as soon as it is completed. As a part of the approval process we verify home ownership or get approval from your landlord. We do this because one of the top 10 reasons animals are surrendered is “landlord does not allow pets.” We also check on a working relationship with a veterinarian for any currently or previously owned pets. This shows us your intent to provide any needed medical attention for the new pet and that you will comply with state and local ordinances. We do not adopt to anyone under 18 years of age.

Our Adoption Process

We always have a large number of different dogs available for adoption. All dogs are required to maintain a current rabies vaccination in accordance with local laws. Our fees include: current vaccinations, free pet health exam, pet care sample kit with valuable coupons, and a “Home Again” Identification Microchip. Every dog that leaves our care has been spayed or neutered. In addition to the adoption fee, make sure you are ready to assume all the other costs of owning this pet.

Our mission is to rescue at-risk dogs from kill shelters in South Florida
